Dániel Bali, representing the sports team PTE-PEAC of the University of Pécs won his first adult competition in the Aerobics FIG World Cup 2014 held in Borovets, Bulgaria.

For the 10th time in line the annual Career Day and Job Fair was being organized at the University of Pécs in order to provide a big variety of open positions from numerous employers, as well as practice-driven trainings and session speeches for students, freshly graduates and alumni. The fair took place in the Knowledge Centre of the University of Pécs on the 6th of May, 2014.

The revolutionary scientific model of the artificial 3D-lung tissue carried out by Dr. Judit Pongrácz, professor of the University of Pécs may bring a real breakthrough in the treatment methods of lung diseases. The invention represents long years of highly dedicated work.

The largest global forum of experts dealing with research and treatment of nervous system injuries elected Professor Dr. András Büki for president of the world-wide organisation, the International Neurotrauma Society. The professor of the University of Pécs will hold the position for 2 years, until 2016.

The Medical School of the University of Pécs celebrates two important anniversaries in 2014: 10 years of the German, and 30 years of the English General Medicine Programme.

3 days, 23 000 visitors, 110 sub-events, 500 performers and nearly 40 concerts. These few numbers suggest that combining the Zsolnay Festival (an annual spring festival organised by the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter in Pécs) and the University Days of Pécs (one of the most awaited student events) was an awesome initiative. The unique double-festival was a great success and managed to bring more fun and entertainment to the audience than ever before. Read our report below!

Within the framework of the International Teaching Week at the Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE), the Simonyi Entrepreneurship Day was held on the 23th of April, 2014 on the occasion of the first anniversary of Simonyi Business and Development Center. The goal of the event was to appreciate the achievements of the organisation so far, as well as to bring students closer to realizing their future business ideas.

The exhibition presenting sixty real-size inventions and creations of the renaissance artist, Leonardo da Vinci, was opened on the 16th of April in Janus Pannonius Museum, Pécs. The venue of the interactive show presents itself on about 1500 square metres and two locations.

As a result of the cooperation between the University of Pécs and The European Office of World Health Organization (WHO), the first issue of WHO’s newsletter titled ’Public Health Aspects of Migration in Europe’ was published.

On the 22–23th of April, 2014 the Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University hosted the VI. International Conference “Technical Universities: Integration with European and World Education Systems” within the framework of international forum “Education Quality – 2014”. On this occasion, József Bódis, rector of the UP received Honoris Causa Degree from the host institution.
