Two special jubilees of the Medical School!

The Medical School of the University of Pécs celebrates two important anniversaries in 2014: 10 years of the German, and 30 years of the English General Medicine Programme.

Over 2000 students from Germany, Austria and Switzerland have been accepted for the Medicine Programme in German since the year of its foundation, 1994. The programme celebrates its 10th jubilee this year. It may be even more remarkable, that the education of medical studies in English was started in Pécs in 1984; since then dedicated future doctors from more than 60 nations chose to study at the oldest university of Hungary and in the European capital of culture, Pécs.

Jubilee ceremony of the German Medical Programme

The foundation of the German programme was celebrated within the framework of an Alumni Meeting, as well as an annual and traditional International Evening on the 4th and 5th of April, 2014. The festive event was visited by German politicians like Ulla Schmidt, minister for health care.

Guests were welcomed by Prof. Dr. József Bódis, rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Attila Miseta, Dean of the Medical School and Dr. Frédéric Zuhorn, general secretary and Alumni representative of the German programme.

Previous students visited their Alma Mater and had the chance to share their past experiences about Pécs, as well as their first impressions as young practitioner doctors with current students of the faculty. Several professors and lecturers were happy to great former students at the faculty. Based on the high number of visitors and the success of the event, the next Alumni Meeting of the German Alumni Club is already under organisation.
