Medical School

The Medical School and the Faculty of Pharmacy organized the Orientation Days for their 850 freshmen. The gathering was held at the Szentágothai Research Centre. On 28 August the German and English programme students and on 29 August the Hungarian programme students have been informed about everything they have to know at the start of their academic year.

I had a conversation with Anikó Kramm, Head of the Office at the Admissions and German Student Service Centre. She explained in which cases the MS students could get help and her colleague Kálmán Sebők, who works as management consultant there.

At the beginning of the term the traffic is coloured by cyclists. It is important to pay attention to them, at the same time the cyclists should be aware of traffic rules. Therefore the goal of the Bikers’ breakfast was to draw the attention of students on bicycles.

There is an award-winning unique choir at the Medical School. Its members are Norwegian students.

The Irish Dentistry Award, a prestigious recognition was given to a dentist-oral surgeon, who graduated from the University of Pécs. Dr. Antal Róka, who runs his own surgery, deserved the award for Best Employer.

A new higher education ranking was published by ’Heti Válasz’ (Hungarian weekly newspaper) already for  the 12th time.  This year, rankings evaluating the institutions on the basis of professors’ excellence have also been taken into consideration.

We hereby confirm that the College of Health Sciences of the Ohio University (OU) and the University of Pécs Medical School (UPMS) intend to establish scientific collaborations in the fields of Global Health and Medicine with a high emphasis on Public Health Aspects related to Migration and Ethnical as well as Cultural Diversity.
