On 1 September 2018 the Ceremonial Meeting on the Day of Pécs and the Ceremonial Senate Meeting of the University of Pécs Opening the Academic Year was jointly celebrated. On this occasion, awards of the city and the university have been conferred.

The Pécs Debate Academy is a unique regional initiative started in 2013. In 2016, PDA functioned also as CEEPUS Summer School on Migration, which provided an opportunity for students from all corners of the world to get engaged with a series of debates on topics closely connected with our transnational and "glocal" world. 

The town of Pécs was awarded the UNESCO "Global Learning City Award" for the year of 2017, on which the international organization issued a notice on Thursday evening. Pécs, Hungary won this prestigious title for the first time.

The Corriere della Sera is an Italian daily newspaper most widely read  published with the highest number of circulation. Its travel section  has recently published  the list of the best European university cities and to our greatest pleasure Pécs also got a place in it, among  cities like Oxford, Manchester, Dublin, Bologna or Heidelberg.

Within few months several renowned international university ranking firms have placed the Univesity of Pécs among the world’s top universities.

Walking in te streets of Pécs you can meet with a lot of interesting faces. One of these was Kristian who is a Norwegian Erasmus-student at the University of Pécs right now. I asked him about his decision – why did he choose Pécs – and his opinion about the life around him, now and then.
