Jubilee 650

Doctor Honoris Causa titles, Doctor et Professor Honoris Causa title, Professor Emeritus title and honorary professor title were conferred at the ceremonial meeting of the Senate of the University of Pécs held in the Dr. Halasy-Nagy József Aula on 16th November. The event was also the opening ceremony of the Human well-being conference.

More than 80 representatives of Higher Education Institutions from 20 countries attended the gathering at Pécs. During the academic sessions organised in the framework of the event, experts reflected about migrations and the changing roles of Universities in an interdependent world. The Compostela Group of Universities awarded the Prize Grupo Compostela-Xunta de Galicia to Marcelino Oreja Aguirre, driver of the designation of Saint James Way as the first cultural route of the Council of Europe, during the closing ceremony of its XXIII General Assembly, held in the Hungarian town of Pécs.

Since 2013 the Sports’ Office has organized more than a hundred events in nearly 35 sports (Aerobic, track and field, table tennis, snooker, rattling ball, table football, go-kart, squash, fitness, floorball, futsal, handball, football (indoor and outdoor), basketball, streetball, swimming, volleyball, chess, tennis, hiking, etc.). In recent years, nearly sixteen thousand students have participated in these events.

Apart from the leisure activities, the Sports’ Office organizes competitions between the Faculties in different sports (outdoor football, volleyball, basketball, handball, futsal). These competitions run in a championship-scheme with more than a thousand students competing with each other.

What is DesignPécs? Pécs is a creative and livable city. A significant center of creative industry, its impact goes beyond the borders of the country and has international visibility. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pécs-Baranya, the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts University of Pécs, the Cultural Creative Industry Cluster and creative industry businesses have been cooperating, strengthening and helping each other for years. Traditionally the DesignPécs event will be held as part of their initiative and jointly organized by them in fall 2017. 

The Hungarian National Bank organizes a monetary history exhibition with the cooperation of the University of Pécs. The exhibition already visited six cities and universities and it enjoyed great popularity with the audience. This success inspired the exhibition in Pécs.

The Regional FENS Meeting in Pécs will focus on the most recent discoveries in neuroscience from molecules to behavior, highlighting discoveries of translational potential. In addition to the wide range of scientific insights a special emphasis will be placed on cutting edge technologies. The conference will be held for four days and will include six plenary speaker sessions, eighteen symposia and three poster sessions.

The University of Pecs’ 3rd International Interdisciplinary 3D Conference presents contemporary use and techniques of 3D printing technology. This year’s conference is entitled, „Biomedical Use of 3D Printing,” originating from an interdisciplinary aspect.
