The renowned London-based company, QS, has published this ranking annually since 2014. The most important factor taken into consideration is academic reputation, forming 30% of the final result. Employer reputation, faculty/students ratio, as well as research impact are also assessed, the latter giving an overview of the frequency, with which an institution’s papers are cited by other researchers around the world. The number of international students is assessed as well, in which the University of Pécs is proud to be one of the best among Hungarian universities. However, the ratio of students coming from abroad is only weighing 2,5% of the overall score.

Rector Attila Miseta emphasized in connection with the latest international ranking: “It is definitely an honour to get close to the TOP 50 in an international comparison. However, we will not let this cloud our judgement, because realistically speaking we have to see, that in this ranking, neither the really strong European universities, nor the overseas universities with even better results are included. We have to work hard in order to compete with them. At the same time it is an important feedback, that an internationally renowned company says, based on objective data, that the University of Pécs has moved forward! Accordingly, at more locations in Pécs as well as in Szekszárd, work is in progress in the framework of the Modern Cities Programme, in order to support the highly professional niveau at the university by developing the infrastructure of the university to an international level” – highlighted the rector.
