Erasmus+ Staff Week – sharing knowledge and ideas
Erasmus+ Staff Week was organized by the University of Pécs in the framework of the International Spring at the end of the April. The conference and workshop addressed topics of interest in the field of international relations, particularly the Erasmus+ mobility programme.
The professional program contained special trainings for the international staff of Erasmus+.
Hungarian experts delivered lectures about new habits of generation Z in communications and challenges in higher education. Inter alia the presentations highlighted communication habits, media usage and lifestyle groups of Generations Z.
The Meet our Staff! part of the program provided opportunity to meet faculty coordinators, and to work on possible future cooperation. These small, one-on-one sections sessions allowed the participants to broaden and strengthen the ongoing relationships.
A presentation by Dr. István Vilmos Kovács (Research Group on Higher Education and Innovation) focused on the credit mobility challenges and probable responses, the complexity of purposes and potential learning opportunities were introduced from a new perspective. According to a recent research a diverse picture of problems were demonstrated regarding credit mobility in general and the recognition of credits in particular. The program was an opportunity to share personal experiences and aimed to collect best practices and challenges to identity difficulties and potential solutions. The lecturer drew attention to the wide range of benefits of credit mobility and emphasised that we should have much more discussion on the topic and disseminate the experiences of the outgoing and ingoing students.
In the framework of further workshops the participants could share their thoughts and experiences on recruitment, credit recognition, and on the topic of internships, inbound and outbound mobility and contracting.
The Staff Week also provided a great opportunity to introduce the services designed for incoming international students at the University of Pécs. Special services, like the University of Music, the Disability Support and the Dancing University were presented to the audience. This way the workshop afforded a possibility to think together on how university services and extracurricular activities can be improved.
Furthermore, the program included some language learning named Survival Hungarian Language Course for beginners.
Currently, the University of Pécs has 3,800 enrolled international students, and we would like to increase this number to 5,000 by 2020. The incoming Erasmus+ students help us to reach our goal with their uniquely high academic excellence and their rich cultural background, claimed Dr. István Tarrósy, Director of Centre for International Relations.
