University Days of Pécs: Here we come again!

The four days event comes to life in a new location and it entertains the public with ca. 30 bands and 100 productions. The organizers of the festival think it is extremely important to line up bands related to Pécs: e.g. 30y will be one of the sure performers again this year.

„PEN is a great manifesting opportunity for bands and musicians working at the university: on the one hand, they have a sense of security since they play to familiar audience, on the other hand, PEN provides a significant public for them” -  Zoltán Beck, the band leader of the 30y and the professional director of the University of Music of UP said.

What's the PEN ?

No, it is not the pen with ink. It's the student festival of the University of Pécs, and it has got an amazing history already: the University Days of Pécs is one of the most awaited student events. The new venue is the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter, which is a bit smaller than the Leather Factory of Pécs (Bőrgyár) which was the former venue but it is beautiful and awesome! The PEN begins 30th of April.

Festival

This year's PEN offers different concerts to the festival visitors. Supernem, Vad Fruttik, Brains, Akos – all of them are going to give a concert at this festival. ZEN (University of Music of UP) is going to make opportunities for the local bands to show their talent with mini concerts. There was quite a lot band which have started their careers at PEN. Even the famous 30Y had played for the students during one of the ancient PENs.

Student Rector

It is pretty amazing to be a student of those faculty of the UP which has won the Student Rector title. This means its students want to live life to the fullest. Groups of several faculties race for this title year after year. Every team has to have a leader and a special mission and story about themselves and about the PEN. Last time the group of the Faculty of Health Sciences won the game. This year nearly all the faculties have a candidate for the Student Rector title. The students of the Faculty of Law loved the Breaking Bad, maybe that is why their group is linked to "amPENthamine". Ragamuffins from the Faculty of Business and Economics are going to hustle at the festival. The Poison EvolutioN is the group of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and I have to admit that they are drop dead gorgeous! NinPENdo is the name of the nostalgic group of the Faculty of Humanities. They have the Star Power!

The student group of the Faculty of Adult Education and Human Resources came from the Olympos (all its members are gods, hopefully). Students of Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology want to rule the world: they formed the local PENtagon. I am sure that you can meet with Obelix and Asterix because Gauls invaded the Faculty of Sciences. Students of the Faculty of Arts like superheros: they formed a group called the Ex-PEN-dables. Chuch Norris cheers for this team! And the first time ever: 15 fearless Erasmus students formed a group to take the challenge of the PEN, the Erasmus team called Playboy PENsion wants to show how to enjoy life.
