Harvard won the race wearing UP caps

The Antall József Knowledge Centre organized the event take for the sport festival of the year for the third time this year where the dragon boat teams of 12 Hungarian higher education institutions and the rowing 8 teams of two American universities compaired their abilities. The University of Pécs was represented by the UP Dance Team, the UP Brass Band and lots of fans, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The cheerleader team dressed like naval officers drew the attention to the UP already with its look, then the atmosphere became even better when the UP Brass Band and the fans joined as well.

The dragon boat team of the UP put up a good performance: they were fourth to reach the finish line.

The UP Dance Team undertook a big task: besides supporting our university, they were asked by the organizers to encourage the team of Harvard and Princeton University. In this regard, the University of Pécs invited the overseas teams to spend a day in our city on Thursday before the race. They had the possibility to get informed about the history of UP and to meet some colleagues and students of our university as well as the representatives of our dragon boat team. They have explored the sights of Pécs by narrow gauge and received a taste of the Hungarian culture, folk-dancing, in addition, they could even excel in an American-Hungarian intercultural quiz. At the end of the day, they knew the date of foundation of UP off book, learned the name of Lajos Nagy and wore the university caps and sweaters received as a gift proudly. They have even tried how to crack of a whip.

In the race Harvard was first to reach the finish line, ahead of a Szent István University and Princeton.
