The University of Pécs became a Research University!
The Minister of Human Resources classified the University of Pécs as a Research University for the period from 2013 to 2016.
In the budget of 2013 10 billion HUF have been separated for the support of thehigher educational institution excellence.
The institutions are going to receive the notice with the exact amounts next week - as the Sate Secretary of Education told the Hungarian News Agency on Friday.
Based on the government regulation, between 2013 and 2016 the University of Debrecen, the Eötvös Loránd University and the University of Szeged can bear the title of Flagship Institution of Higher Education. However, in the future there is also going to be an opportunity to achieve a similar qualification for further 3 artistic and special status institutes fulfilling the specified requirements.
The Minister of Human Resources classified the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the University of Debrecen, the Eötvös Loránd University, the University of Pécs, the Semmelweis University and the University of Szeged as Research Universities for the qualification period between 2013 and 2016. The Research University classification can be held by maximum 6 universities, the Independent Research Faculty classification can be received by maximum 6 more faculties simultaneously in a qualification period. In the future the opportunity of classification will be provided for two additional faculties.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the Szent István University, the Engineering Faculty of the Pannon University and the Faculty of Information Technology at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University bear the title of Research Faculty.
The title „College of Applied Sciences" can be held by up to two institutions at the same time. The Minister of Human Resources awarded this title to the Budapest Business School and the Eszterházy Károly College.
