State Honorees in our national holiday

The president of Hungary – upon the advice of the government – awarded Széchenyi Prizes on the occasion of our national holiday, 15th March. From the tutors of our university Széchenyi Prize was conferred on professors Dr. János Hebling and Gábor Kovács L.

Széchenyi Prizes were conferred on:

János Hebling physicist, doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, director of Institute of Physics of the Faculty of Sciences of the UP and professor in recognition of his outstanding results achieved in the field of generating and using one-cycle, high intensity terahertz impulses and in recognition of his decade-long school-and workshop creating activity practised in nonlinear optics and laser physics;

 

 

 

Gábor Kovács L. laboratory specialist, neuroendocrinologist, regular member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, president of the Szentágothai Research Centre of the University of Pécs and professor in recognition of his outstanding results achieved in the field of metabolic diseases and development of laboratory diagnostics methods, furthermore in recognition of his organizational and professional innovations, significantly assisting the development of domestic and international laboratory medicine and excellent organizational work of science.

 

 

Széchenyi Prize - the most prestigious award in Hungary of those who have been providing outstanding performance in the field of academic life - was handed over 25 years ago, 15th March, 1990 at first.

 

 

Zoltán Balog, Minister of Human Capacities handed over awards on behalf of János Áder, President of the Republic of Hungary in recognition of the high quality work of the awarded people.

Civil division of the Officer's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit award was conferred on:

  • Dr. László Imre Komlósi, Vice Rector and professor of the Széchenyi István University.

 

Zoltán Balog, Minister of Human Capacities handed over the civil divisions of the Officer's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit, the Knight's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit, the Gold Cross of Merit of Hungary, the Silver Cross of Merit of Hungary and the Bronze Cross of Merit of Hungary state awards on the occasion of the national holiday in the Vigadó Pest, 13th March, 2015.

In recognition of their high quality work, civil division of the Knight's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit award was conferred on:

  • Dr. Ágnes Dárdai Dr. Fischerné, director-general of the Library and Centre of Learning of the University of Pécs,
  • Dr. Zsuzsanna Gerner, director of Germanistic Institute of Faculty of Humanities of the University of Pécs and docent of the German Linguistic Institute.

 

In recognition of their outstanding fine art activities, Munkácsy Mihály Prize was conferred on:

  • Colin Foster sculptor, professor of the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts of the University of Pécs,
  • Péter Somody painter-artist, professor and head of department of the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts of the University of Pécs.
