The reconstruction of the 400-Bed clinic of Pécs reached a milestone

The „A” and „C” wings, as well as the Emergency Care Unit of the 400-Bed Clinical Centre of the University of Pécs was ceremonially handed over. The clinical complex was handed over by Gábor Zombor, Secretary of State for Healthcare, Zsolt Páva, Major of Pécs and József Bódis, Rector of the University of Pécs. This way it is only one step missing – reconstruction of the „B” wing – that patient care could operate in the completely renewed Clinical Centre under the most modern circumstances in the capital of Baranya county.

The projects subsidized from European Union funds affects an area of 27 000 m2 and is realised from 15 billion forints. The building units handed over on 13 January host the hermatology, endocrinology,  gastroenteorology, cardoplogy, angiology and emergeny care units and specialist orders of the 1st Department of Internal Medicine  Also the Emergency Care Unit was handed over, located between the eastern and northern parts, i.e. the „B” and the „C” buildings. All the wards of the reconstructed clinical complex became one or two-bed, high comfort rooms with a shower. During the development of the building complex special attention was paid to functionality. The building tailored to the needs of the Emergency Care, through the easier access of the diagnostics urgent patients can be treated faster, which can be essential in some cases. Internal medicie and general emergency cases are handled here, which includes neurological, otorhinolaryngological, urological and dermatological cases, however they don’t deal with paediatrical, psychiatrical and obstetric cases here. On the basis of preliminary estimates, 90-100 000 cases will be handled here at the new „emergency”, coming mainly from Pécs and its agglomerations.

The design and the technical realisation were made with striving for the highest quality. Extremely durable, aluminum doors and windows were installed, moreover tiling with conductive zones assists the visually impaired in the orientation. In the operating rooms and intensive care departments a sterile air-conditioning ventilation system was installed, as well as a world-class emergency response system, which includes among other things a high-pressure water mist fire protection system. The design of the 1st Department of Internal Medicine Hematology Unit Bone Marrow Transplantation Section  meeting high hygiene requirements is also nationally unique, that allows the hermetic isolation of patients with glass surface visitor corridor and telephone communication it provides opportunity for maintaining the relationship of the patient with the relatives and with the outside world. The specific hygiene requirements of the same specific department are fulfiled by the sterile water and mechanical ventilation system detached from the general system of the building of detached building with sterile water and mechanical ventilation system, which provides boiled and chilled sterile water service.

The development projects are expected to be finished by fall, thanks to which patients coming to the „400-Bed Clinic” can be treated in a both structurally and functionally, excessively modern complex.
