Prof. Gábor Kelemen was recognized by the Elige Vitam Award

Each year on the 26th of June, people around the world celebrate the world day against drugs. On this occasion, Károly Czibere, secretary for Social Affairs and Social Inclusion at the Department of Human Resources honoured Professor Gábor Kelemen, professor of the UP’s Faculty of Humanities with the Elige Vitam (meaning: Choose to live) Award.

The award is dedicated to the several-decade-long diligent and professional scientific work performed by Professor Kelemen, who is a professor of the University of Pécs Faculty of Humanities, Institute for Social Relations; furthermore an acknowledged addiction specialist and psychotherapist.

Professor Gábor Kelemen is a well-known and internationally recognized professor of our institution.

The General Assembly of the United Nations declared the 26th of June the world day against drugs back in 1988. In Hungary it is celebrated since 1997, and recognitions are handed over since 2001. The international day aims to raise awareness of drug abuse and the fight against illegal drug trafficking.
