Paediatricians in Pécs put on their running shoes
12 paediatricians undertook a great venture. They decided to encircle Lake Balaton to help children enduring illness by participating in the XI. NN Ultrabalaton race through 19-21 May.
The general aim of the race is to run or cycle around our beloved Lake Balaton, the biggest lake of Central Europe and to test themselves and the team mates and explore the beautiful rural scenery along the route.
Besides, they run the more than two hundred kilometre long distance to collect money for a special equipment for the Paediatrics Clinic to help injection.
The device is able to illuminate the children’s hands and veins with the help of a special lighting technique , so the doctors can immediately see where to give the injection – said Zsófia Laufer, one of the masterminds of the out of the ordinary fundraising.
The vein scanner costs nearly one and a half million forints.
Therefore, they announced the action called “Adopt some kilometres!” to gather supporters and donations.
