ErasMusic

It is my delightful pleasure to introduce a very unique band whose members all have some connections with Erasmus Program.

How did the idea come to make a band?

Zsolt Apro (guitarist) works in Hunyor, where Erasmus students usually live. Last semester we met and I told him that I (Lucja Mikolajuk) play violin. We decided to play together. First time we performed in Trafik with a Polish girl (vocalist), who went back to Poland after the fall semester. It was a nice experience, so we planned that we will also play during the spring. We started looking for some people, who could play with us from February. I have met Henrik Küpper (drummer) before, so when we ran into each other we discussed that we could make something together. I heard also that Mikus Ciemits (saxophonist) plays the saxophone quite well, so I wrote to him. He knew the second saxophonist Fabian Leimig. Zsolt found girls, who are singing with us now – Cécile Mta, Mathilde Vrn and we asked also Bálint Deák (bass guitarist) if he could play with us. He agreed, so we had completed the band. 

As far as I know you had some concerts including a very good one at the International Evening. How was it like to perform in such a big event?

After the first concert we received positive feedbacks, so we thought we could perform again on next PMS, and that was the time when the organizers of I.E. PMS stage (Alan Abada, András Langer) asked us if we would perform at EXPO as well. Needless to say, the offer was a great honor for us so we said yes. It was an amazing experience for everybody. It was a very good organization and there was an awesome public. Erasmus students always support us and we can count on them. 

You have a very creative name. Can you remember the way it came to the band's mind to call it like this?

After the proposition to play at the International Evening we had to invent the band's name really fast. Nobody had an idea, but one day before the deadline, when we had to inform them about our name, our friend Dasha Pavlin said: "Maybe it could be ErasMusic, because everybody have some connections with Erasmus." This idea was the most acceptable. 

Do you have any further plans with this band or more concerts?

It is for sure we will perform in the future. We would like to perform at the Open Mic and maybe at some other places, too. 

What will happen to the band when you all go back to your home?

We haven't think about it yet. Of course time flies really fast, but now we are enjoying that we can play together. Music connected us and it is a good experience for us. 

As the member of ErasMusic, during the training period, I guess there are some interesting or funny things happened in this typical international band, could you share some of them with us?

We are an international band, everybody is from different countries: France, Germany, Latvia, Hungary, Poland. We have different mentality, it is difficult to remember some funny situations, but there was always good atmosphere and even if it was hard, we supported each other.
