Dare to dream big! International scholarship forum at the UP

An outstanding international scholarship forum and informational day for students and teachers was organized by the Tempus Public Foundation and the University of Pécs in the middle of February, 2014. The main goal of the unique event taking place in the Knowledge Centre was to provide a comprehensive picture of all the scholarship programmes available for students.

He said that students who decide to study abroad take the UP's reputation as well, which is a matter of pride and joy for the university. When taking a retrospective look at the history of studying abroad, after the launch of the Erasmus programme in Hungary in 1987, the UP was among the earliest birds that joined the programme in 1989.

Attila Lengvárszky emphasized that the Campus Hungary scholarship programme, which was launched one year ago, did not overshadow the more traditional Erasmus programme - the number of participating students is growing nearly head to head with each other. The UP is just about to reach another milestone with the preparations of Erasmus+. The new program will offer more flexibility in geographical and financial terms and make it available for UP students to participate in exchange programmes even beyond Europe.

Curious and involved students had the chance to visit the exhibitor stands and gather useful information materials about scholarship opportunities on the ground floor of the Knowledge Centre until late afternoon. Among others, the exhibitors included Campus Hungary, the UP's Department of International Relations, ESN Pécs and Europe Direct. The American Corner, the Alliance Française de Pécs and the Israeli Cultural Institute were to be found as well. Interesting and instructive intercultural and language trainings made the event even more specific.

The forum was worth visiting for students as well as teachers. In the students' section former Erasmus and Campus Hungary applicants held colourful and inspiring presentations about their own experiences abroad. Meanwhile in another room, teachers were informed how to write a good proposal and which international development trends rule the area of higher education.
