Prestigious delegation from Tokyo at the UP Medical School!
Delegates arrived to the University of Pécs from the Tokyo Medical University on the 13th of May. The main objective of the visit was to deepen professional and scientific relations. The two institutions have been engaged in a fruitful cooperation in many areas so far; the current meeting was organized by the leaderships of the two medical faculties in order to negotiate about further collaboration opportunities.
It was far more than a simple courtesy visit; cooperation has been beneficial for both the Hungarian and the Japanese party over the past decades. Many of the UP Medical School experts carried out high quality scientific research in Japan; furthermore, there is a student exchange programme between the two institutions.
Last year, representatives of the Medical School - including Dr. Ákos Koller, vice dean for scientific issues and Dr. Gábor Menyhei, Head of Department and professor of the Medical School - visited to Tokyo. They had the opportunity to try the famous surgical robot which is considered the top of medical technologies.
The present visit is the next stage of the previous meeting; institutional leaders wish to discuss further development possibilities of the student exchange programme and about current and future forms of the scientific cooperation. Besides, guest representatives went to see the internationally recognized Heart Institute, as well as the Szentágothai Research Centre in Pécs.
