Nursing and Patient care with nursing major in Sombor, Serbia

University of Pécs Faculty of Health Sciences launches the BSc program in Nursing and Patient care with nursing major in Sombor, Serbia from the 2017/2018 academic year.

 

On the initiative of Sombor City, Serbia, supported by the Ministry of Human Capacities of the Hungarian Government, the Faculty of Health Sciences of University of Pécs (FHS UP) launches its full-time Bachelor of Science (BSc) program in nursing, taking place in Sombor from September 2017 (the Hungarian language programme was started last academic year)

We welcome all applicants holding a secondary school leaving certificate, who are interested in studying to become a nurse.

Theoretical training takes place in Sombor, Serbia, in the recently renovated building of the Hungarian Civic Casino. Classes are held by the internationally acclaimed lecturers of the Faculty of Health Sciences UP, who possess great experience in the field of evidence-based nursing and health sciences.

Practical training takes place mainly in Hungary, in the Medical Center of UP and the teaching hospitals of the Faculty of Health Sciences, which ensures that students can acquire the most modern and up-to-date protocols in care. The diploma issued at the end of the program is transferable in the European Union based on the European common law.

Faculty of Health Sciences of UP is committed to educate highly qualified health care professionals with state-of-the-art knowledge. Our institute is the first Hungarian health care education provider Faculty to reach university-level, having 6 master-level progams and a doctoral school. Educational centres of the Faculty have been operating in four Hungarian cities: Pécs, Kaposvár, Szombathely and Zalaegerszeg, and from September 2016 the education will start in Sombor, Serbia as well.

Features of the program:

Duration: 8 semesters
Program: full-time
Requirements of the diploma: acquire 240 credits. Number of contact hours: 3050 (theoretical hours: 1440 hours, class practice: 586 hours, clinical/field practice: 1024 hours). Professional practice: clinical/field practice: 1024 hours. Practical education includes the practical classes and the 1-4 week long field practices, plus the 14-15 week long consecutive, complex, guided professional practice.
Language of instruction: Hungarian (for Hungarian speakers); English (for those who do not speak Hungarian, or not at the proper level).
Name of the degree: Nursing and patient care – Nursing major

 

Finances:

In case of fulfilling the acceptance criteria, the program can be attended free of charge as it is funded by the state of Hungary (there is no tuition fee; students accepted for the state-funded program can access student grants and housing subsidy).

The program is also available as self-funded. Tuition fee of the program in Hungarian is 300.000 HUF/semester, the tuition fee of the program in English is 2.000 EUR/semester.

 

Application process:

The application for the training is continuous.
The last date for submitting the application form is expected to be 2017, August 8. 
The application form will be considered valid if it is duly completed and signed the necessary documents are attached and it is submitted within the deadline (2017 August 8) to the Registrar’s Department by post. (7621 Pécs, Szepesy I. u. 1.)

Faculty of Health Sciences

 

Please, attach the following documents to the application form:

  • photocopies of the secondary school certificates;
  • a photocopy of the secondary school leaving certification (If the candidate has solely a Serbian certificate, please send its official translations too! Official translation for the bilingual graduation certifications are not required to be attached. )
  • a copy of language exam certificate (if available)
  • a copy of birth certificate
  • a copy of the document appropriate for identification (e.g. passport, identity card) 

Admission criteria: holding a secondary school leaving certificate

Application form

 

There are two methods to calculate admission points:
a) Adding educational points (max. 200) to the secondary school final exam points (max. 200) and the extra points (max. 100), or

b) doubling the secondary school final exam points (max. 200 x 2) and adding the extra points (max. 100).

Educational points are made up of the applicant’s grades in the 9-12th grade of high school and the % of the secondary school final exam results.

High school final exam points are based on the results of two secondary school final exam subjects.

Only those students can be accepted to the Nursing and Patient care – Nursing Major BSc program who possess at least 280 points after converting the admission points according to the Hungarian higher education admission point system.
Secondary school leaving certificates issued by Serbia are accepted without naturalization or equivalency examination. However, if the secondary school leaving certificate is issued only in Serbian language, its official Hungarian translation must be attached to the application package.

No official translation is required if the secondary school leaving certificate was originally issued also in Hungarian language.
