Wines of the University of Pécs in 2016

The University of Pécs selects one white wine and one red wine each year since 2000 to be the wine of the University of Pécs. As an influential institution of the region the University wishes to represent itself with quality presents.
Already at the beginning it was clear that the wines from this wine region should compete, i.e. wines from Pécs, Szekszárd, Villány and Tolna county - white and red ones too. This year 16 wines of 10 wine cellars competed for the title of the Wine of the University and fortunately, applications were submitted from all four wine regions.
The wine of Lajvér Wine House was awarded as the best red wine and the wine of the Viticultural and Wine Research Institute of the University of Pécs came first among the white wines. A Jubilee Special Award was handed over to the Horváth Wine House.
In harmony with the traditions and rules, the social jury scored "blindly", that is the jury did not know exactly which wine they were tasting and scoring.
