The unique Pécs Debate Academy has started!
The fourth edition of the Pécs Debate Academy has started, organized this year between 28 July 10 August at the University of Pécs under the title ‘Ongoing Migration Crisis and Central Europe – Europe in a Changing Global Context from a Visegrád Perspective’.
The special Pécs Debate Academy 2016 - CEEPUS Summer School onMigrationuses a mixed methodology. Students learn about the ongoing migration crisis from international and local experts of the field while they also gain an opportunity to develop their speaking skills and learn to argue along the techniques of the British Parliamentary Debate style from highly qualified international debate trainers.
The 40 participants represent 10 countries. For the first time this year, not only European but Chinese and Chilean students are also among the participants which proves the success of the summer program.
The Pecs Debate Academy – started in 2013 based on the 17-year experience of the International Culture Week in Pecs (ICWiP) – is a unique regional summer university initiative of its kind in Hungary, the very first debate event in the Transdanubian region, which offers 8 ECTS university credits for those who take an active part in the trainings, lectures, sessions and the final debate tournament.
The Pecs Debate Academy 2016, supported also by the Central European Initiative (CEI), is also having fun!In addition to the lectures and trainings a lot of very enjoyable recreational activities are also included in the program such as the Country Show, trips to the countryside, karaoke party and sport contests. All these in a very welcoming international environment, here, at the University of Pécs.
