The type 2 diabetes and the reason of its vascular complications have been researched by the researchers of the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine and Nephrology Centre for years. The researches reached a new milestone now.

"The type 2 diabetes is one of the most common metabolic disorders: 7-8 % of the population in Hungary are known suffering from type 2 diabetes. By the estimates the same number of people are not known suffering from diabetes. This means that 1-1.5 million people are affected in Hungary" - said István Wittmann, professor and director of the UP Clinical Centre 2nd Department of Internal Medicine and Nephrology Centre.
