Student rector candidates in the University Days of Pécs - Part 3/1.

PENtagon - Pollack Mihaly Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology 

I am Martin Németh, the student rector candidate of the PENtagon group. 
Our story begins in 2003–2004. Some guys wanted to be the life and souls of the main party of the engineers in B Club, so they dressed up like soldiers. This became a tradition: all of the engineers' parties are wrapped in military costumes, all the freshmen are commanded for a whole day in September in a military way. The Pollack was represented by other departments during the former years of the PEN, now it's our turn! The "older" generation of the students of the PMMIK is involved in this group, that's why it was obvious to establish our own PENtagon. We want to show something new and really great to the university!
During the last festivals we usually connected with the groups of the Medical School of the UP, and we did not get on well with other faculties. We would like to change that attitude! So we are open to make friends with each group. We have organized a party at a pub, to pal up with the others. It was really fantastic!
As a student rector I would like to support our university, because the number of students has decreased. We should move out to festivals and talk about University of Pécs. We should contact with other universities of Hungary and other countries which have similar faculties, and their students should participate in PEN, too. I would organize much more collective programmes for the students from all faculties of the UP, I think that would create a real union between us.

NinPENdo - Faculty of Humanities

I'm Gábor Csécsei, the student rector candidate of the NinPENdo group. Our story is based on classical video games of the '80–'90. The main idea presented itself in 2013, just right after the PEN and I have been thinking about this since then. Half of the group consists of freshmen, and nobody has participated in PEN but me! We followed a noble tradition in electing the student rector candidate: first we elected the proper person (that's me!) and later on we chose a theme for the group. The team was divided into groups of 5 and everyone had to write down his/her ideas. We threw out the worse ones immediately, but we still got 38 brilliant ones! We thought over these: Which one is sustainable during a period of two and a half months? Can we make a good film about it? Can we make excellent costumes and masks upon that story? The ideas narrowed for 10, then for 3 features. After the first selector party the whole group gathered to make a decision about the best story. I asked a fellow-student who had participated in the festival to collect all the former themes about the groups of the PENs. Therefore, we have known about the Irish, Scottish and even about the rock band theme - we do not want to repeat these.
I think the main role of the student rector must be to take part in the public life of the university as the face of the UP.
The number of the students of UP has decreased after 2012, so we should stop this tendency and we should meet the future students of our university. Recruitment of new students is inevitable, in my opinion. At the time when I started my studies here, there were far more opportunities to spend our free time than now. We should boost the student life at this university!

Gods of PENynpos - Faculty of Adult Education and Human Resources Development

I'm Máté Kovács, the student rector candidate of the PENynpos team.
We can make a fresh start this year: most members of the group are freshmen, and they are mostly girls.
We gathered just right after our team had formed, and begun to work on our conception. We have plenty of ideas! At last we have remained at the Greek mythology instead of forming the Smurfs. So we are going to play gods and goddesses, which are quite majestic roles. This theme is fun, interesting and eye-catching, can be played easily, and as you know "Gods are in the details". We did our research quite long and quite well: we have seen all the videos about the former PENs, just to avoid copy of any elements of any former groups. We have to admit: we admire the Cirka de Muffalo (one of the former groups of this faculty) for being so awesome, elaborated and sophisticated. As for nostalgia we like Metálcicák, too (this is another former group of this faculty). It was sheer pleasure to watch their productions, I am so proud to be the student of this faculty! I'm convinced that we can be reborn and come out with something different and new, not just recycling the old ideas. We have such great role models, we have to prove for them.
As a student rector I would like to get more students for our university by effective marketing. There are oppositions between the faculties, so we should organize collective programmes to make them friends.
Although I'm a freshman, I feel myself at home here and I wish the same for all freshmen!
