You Can Learn About Chinese Tea Culture

In the Confucius Institute operating at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Pécs since 2015, numerous Campus credit courses are available. The aim of these seminars is to introduce the various areas of Chinese medicine, as well as to offer some insight into the diversity of Chinese culture.

The Campus credit courses are open for students of every faculty. They can learn about calligraphy, Chinese language, even about Chinese tea culture. They can get an overview of Chinese herbs, acupuncture, as well as traditional Chinese medicine, and several other topics. The Institute organizes cultural programmes as well: the next one is the Mid-Autumn Festival on 26 September. Every year, they organize the popular Spring Festival, lantern festival and dragonboat festival for the public. Those students, who participate in Chinese language courses, can apply for scholarships, and the summer camp organized in China, with almost all expenses covered.

Driven by curiosity I participated in the Chinese Tea Culture course, held by Mao Hong, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The course is offered for the second time. During the semester, students learn about different types of tea, the historical background, the role of tea in Chinese culture, and its health benefits. The students are looking forward to a semester filled with delicious teas, and at the same time, they are working on their English language skills, since the classes are held in English.
