The Freedom Express is on the track!

Twenty-five years after the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe, an international socio-educational programme was started to raise awareness of the countries of the former Eastern block.

The winners of the project - Gdańsk, Warsaw, Budapest, Temesvar, Sopron, Bratislava, Prague and Berlin - are going to take a journey between the 14th of August and the 29th of September in order to trace the events that had transformed Europe.

The main idea of the travelling outdoor exhibition is to show different routes to freedom. The campaign organisers wish to show young people what the world was like on both sides of the Iron Curtain; and to ask the new European generation about what, in their opinion, has remained of the spirit of community and solidarity of 1989. Twenty-five years after the spectacular events that triggered the collapse of communism in Europe, organisers are once again asking questions about this watershed.

Among others, the program includes street-art actions, urban excursions, movie shows and meetings with former opposite leaders.

Whoever feels like becoming a member of the group researching the prints of the democratic transitions, has to take part in an international tender which lasts till the end of June. The application form can be downloaded from here!

You shall not pass!
