Student rector candidates in the University Days of Pécs - Part 3/3.

 Playboy PENsion - Erasmus program 

The Erasmus team of the University Days consists of 15 students. We represent almost all the faculties of the University of Pécs.

To be completely frank, we haven't heard about this festival until now. As soon as we have heard about it we decided to participate in it. I think it is the first time that an Erasmus team exists in the competition. Maybe the tasks will be more difficult for us, because all of the other groups of the faculties have known about this festival, and  the main language of the festival was Hungarian.

We had to find a name, and we would have liked something with the word "PEN" in it. It had to be funny and simple, and we all agreed to be Playboy PENsion. It is well-known, it is easy to find characters, and we can connect with the PEN directly. We have our own Hugh Hefner, of course! And we play bunnies and each of us represents a country.

We know it’s a big deal for the students of the UP to participate in this festival. For us it's just more fun, so we won't fight against the other teams, we would like to enjoy the time we'll spend together. Let's enjoy ourselves!

If I were the student rector… Well, I'm not able to talk about any problems which local students have, but as foreign students we can speak and talk about the Erasmus things. I definitely would inform everyone about the condition of our dorms, Hunyor Hostel; and the level of education, I think sometimes there are problems with the courses and descriptions. I think Hungarian students should meet Erasmus students! Hungarians are afraid of us, like we were weird creatures, everyone plans their escape immediately as soon as they hear an English word. I would organize non-formal events, for example charity, or maybe a dinner.  

ExPENdables - Faculty of Music and Visual Arts  

I'm Zsolt Ciursas, the student rector candidate from the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts of the UP. The members of the former team of the faculty put us up to enter this competition. They asserted the University Days as the best party ever. The festival puts us in touch with the other faculties. We can be proud to be the students of the Faculty of Music and Visual Art or of any other faculty but we should be proud to be the members of the University of Pécs as a whole, too.

Our theme is simple: the expendables. Do we hold onto the film? Maybe. Not necessarily. We play a slushy action movie. I think this line and style suit us the best. There are graphic artists, musicians, applied artists and painters among the members of our group. In 2003 the former team played the members of a kind of a cellar, they took wine with everyone and dined everybody during the festival. We like their opening video, I think, it was really excellent! I remember well to the group of the Faculty of Business and Economics, they played funny Irish villagers. We studied the former festivals, but as artists we can be enchanted by almost anything. We would like to play and make something different, new thing which fits this era. We count on the former group of our faculty, we are good friends.

As a student rector I think I would not change the whole world. But I should recommend to organize programmes among the faculties. Because for God's sake, in what could we be different from each other? We study different things in different part of the city, but we all are young with similar problems. Exams, parents, girls or boys, parents… We could discuss these topics. Oh, and one more thing: each freshmen need to know: it' good to be the student of the University of Pécs!

Breaking PEN  - Faculty of Law 

I'm István Balogh, the student rector candidate from the Faculty of Law. I was invited to be the candidate in February and I accepted it with honor. We reduced the number of applicants for the festival from 20 to 15, so we have a cool team right now. Most of the members are freshmen. We try to keep ourselves together, so we are planning to live literally together somewhere during the last week of the University Days.

The name of the team came from the TV series called Breaking Bad. It's about drug dealers, but our drug is completely different. Our motto: Don't use drug, take PEN-amphetamine instead. PEN-amphetamine is our creation, its aim is to cheer up everyone. It is a feeling, not a real pill or capsule. According to our story it was invented 25 years ago to avoid stress during Exam Days. Today it has to be spread during the University Days.

The University of Pécs is the first university of Hungary, so I am very proud to be a student of the UP. I keep in touch with the former student rector candidate of our faculty, he supports me.

As a student rector I would like to be well-known, and I would raise the number of the parties. I think we should invite more people to study here, because in lack of students even the University Days could not be organized.
