Here comes the Pécs University Festival 2016!

1 year has flown by so it is time for another Pécs University Festival, otherwise known as PEN! For three days, starting on April 28th, the biggest cultural and music festival of University of Pécs will show the world once again what life is like on the campus.

The venue is the famous Zsolnay Quarter; this is where more than 100 acts – local and foreign formations, DJs, cultural and social programmes – will grace the stage with their presence.

The history of PEN (Pécsi Egyetemi Napok – Pécs University Days) started in the 1990s, and after many temporary breaks, it restarted in 2006. In the past 10 years it has become one of the most significant university events in Hungary, owing to its high-end musical lineup, abounding in foreign performers, as well as the spectacular teams of the students of the Univesity of Pécs competing for the title of the student rector.

The decades-old minifestival of PTE will be held at the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter again, with more than a hundred performances, including Hungarian and foreign bands, DJs, community events, and the indispensable, colourful teams of the student rector election.

The organisers of the biggest cultural and entertainment event series of the University of Pécs always focused on providing festival-goers with a great selection of music from different genres. DJ Krush has played here, along with La Fanfare en Pétard, EZ3kiel, the Firewater or the Bauchklang. So there is a great deal to choose from: from hip-hop through to contemporary electronic, to bittersweet rock, or an energetic beatbox formation; nearly every genre represents itself here: interesting, tasteful, and far from what you're used to.

The creme of Hungarian popular music will also pay its respect to the main stage. In the past few years, electronic music has had more and more of a hold on the festival as well, so the half-dozen locations of the festival will be of much interest to one and all.
