Foreign students expressed their satisfaction with UP
The University of Pécs has been placed into category „very good” by StudyPortals, an organisation that compiled a ranking on the basis of student satisfaction surveys carried out in various European universities. On average, foreign students gave more than 8 points (8+) of the maximum 10 to the University of Pécs with which it managed to earn the recognition and award of StudyPortals.
The international organisation has recently informed the leaders of the University of Pécs that UP has won the „Award for Very Good International Student Satisfaction 2016”. The results were announced a few weeks ago in Liverpool at the annual conference of the European Association for International Education. StudyPortal ranked the various higher education institutions on the basis of approximately sixteen-thousand reviews and opinions, however, only those schools were assessed that were evaluated by at least twenty students in the past academic year.
The satisfaction of students are determined on the basis of several factors: besides the quality of education, the host town, its cultural life and community, the services provided by the university, the opportunities for professional development, the environment and the costs were also taken into account. Regarding the award, Mr József Bódis, the rector of the university emphasized:
“I believe there is nothing more important than how students – be them Hungarian or foreign - assess our university, its services and its environment. One of the most important strategic objectives of the University of Pécs is internationalization, increasing the number of foreign students significantly. The label “very good” which we received from our foreign students make us proud, however, it also shows that there is room for improvement and we definitely want to improve and develop. The “Modern Cities Programme” provides us with a great opportunity to achieve this as one of its essential aim is to modernize the learning environment. It is important and great that on the basis of our students’ feedback the quality of education is high at our university, but we also need to modernize our buildings and the equipment found in them.”
