The event is part of the PTE 650 Jubilee celebration of the University of Pécs.
This renowned Hungarian jazz formation evokes a fascinating story! These brave Hungarian jazz musicians recorded in 1956 in the studio rented by former American consul general, Ernest Nagy. The records were smuggled into the USA where they were played on Willis Conover’s show called Jazz Hour on the Voice of America station. This rare audio record was discovered by Attila Csányi, former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of JazzMan, who immediately brought the record to the attention of the Embassy in Budapest. This concert will showcase some of these orginal songs as well as other 1950s jazz hits. Songs will be performed by one of Hungary’s outstanding formations, the Balázs Elemér Group, founded in the year 2000.
Participation is free!
