Agreement with the Hangzhou Normal University
An honourable Chinese delegation arrived in Pécs on the 11th of May, 2014 in order to negotiate about a promising exchange programme between the Hangzhou Normal University and the University of Pécs. Du Wei, president of the Normal University, which is located in the most developed region of China and his companions spent two fruitful days in our city.

First contact between the two universities was established a few weeks before, whendr. László Komlósi, vice rector of the UP visited Du Wei. Besides Mr. Wei, the current delegation was formed by Wu Xiaowei from the International Relations Department and Lyu Min, who represented the International Student Office.
There is a serious cooperative intention from both institutions. Therefore, chances are high for implementing a future student exchange programme sponsored by the scholarship offered by the Chinese partner. For this reason, a new inter-university agreement was signed on the 12th of May in the central building of the University of Pécs.
The friendly meeting was officially opened by dr. Gyula Zeller, vice rector of the UP, who warmly welcomed the Chinese guests. He explained the importance of internationalization and handling it as a key issue, and assured new partners about being happy to great Chinese students, professors and researchers at our institution.
Regarding the excellent relationship between Hungary and China that can be tracked for long generations now, dr. László Komlósi, vice rector of the UP told about the preparation of founding a Confucius Institution in Pécs in the near future. He added:"There are more and more students learning Chinese in Hungary, because it can be seen as an investment into the future."
Delegation members all agreed about having wonderful first impressions in here, they were impressed by the city of Pécs, as well as the university facilities: "The University of Pécs is very international and professional. We will share a very good future where exchanging students is only the first baby step."
Following the act of singing the inter-university agreement, university leaders handled over little presents to each other. The Chinese souvenir was decorated with symbols of Confucius's four important notions: loyalty, forgiveness, diligence and cautiousness.
As a closure, the UP's International Relations Office introduced the brand new Chinese enrolment website of the University of Pécs which is just about to be launched.
