Towards the end of the year all of us will have a chance to take a break from the hard work that characterized the whole of the year behind us, and which resulted in success, recognition and great achievements.

I would like to thank everybody very much for all the hard work and activity with which we have shaped our future. We are facing major challenges. One of them will be the celebration of the 650th anniversary next year which is an occasion to pay tribute to the decision-makers who placed the population of Hungary into the knowledge-based group of nations. This is also the date of the birth of Hungarian higher education, as it is not just an occasion for celebration to Pécs, but to the whole of Hungarian higher education, because, as a result of the new law passed by the Hungarian Parliament, from 2017 on the 1st of September   will be observed as Hungarian Higher Education Day.

The scientific and cultural events that we have already performed and those yet to come are to serve and honour this cause.

I would like to wish a merry Christmas to all and a happy new year!

You shall not pass!
